comScore Releases September U.S. Search Engine Rankings
RESTON, Va., Oct 18, 2007 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- comScore, Inc. (Nasdaq: SCOR), a leader in measuring the digital world, today released its monthly comScore qSearch analysis of the search marketplace. Among core search engines in September 2007, Google Sites remained the top search property with more than 5.3 billion core searches conducted, representing a 57 percent share of the search market. Along with Google, both Yahoo! Sites and Ask Network posted share gains during the month.
September U.S. Core Search Rankings
In September, Google Sites maintained its position atop the core search rankings with 57 percent of U.S. searches, gaining a half share point versus the previous month. Yahoo! Sites ranked second with 23.7 percent, followed by Microsoft Sites (10.3 percent), Ask Network (4.7 percent) and Time Warner Network (4.3 percent).

In September, Americans conducted 9.4 billion searches at the core search engines, marking a 4-percent decline versus August. September tends to be a softer month for search activity due to it being a 30-day month with a long holiday weekend. More than 5.3 billion core searches were conducted at Google Sites during the month, while Yahoo! Sites recorded 2.2 billion.

September U.S. Expanded Search Rankings
In the September 2007 analysis of the Top 50 properties worldwide where search activity is observed, Google Sites led the pack with 6.6 billion searches. Yahoo! Sites ranked second with nearly 2.4 billion searches, followed by Microsoft Sites (999 million), Time Warner Network (843 million) and Fox Interactive Media (492 million). Despite the decline in overall search activity in September, Ask.com saw a 10-percent gain versus August.
